Yes. Everything is billed in USD through a US-based payment processor. Most French CB cards are co-branded with Visa or Mastercard and process without issue. AMEX, Apple Pay, and Google Pay also work for French-issued cards. Your bank converts at its standard rate, no surprise markups from us.

The eVOA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, which is your window to enter Indonesia. Once you arrive, you can stay 30 days. Single entry. Extendable once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days.

The eVOA is fully active at Ngurah Rai (Bali / DPS) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta / CGK), the two airports nearly all French itineraries use. It is also accepted at Yogyakarta (YIA), Surabaya (SUB), Lombok (LOP), Manado, Medan, Batam, Bintan, and other authorised entry points across Indonesia.

The France Diplomatie advisory (diplomatie.gouv.fr) lists most tourist zones, including Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, and Java, at vigilance normale. A handful of remote areas in Papua are flagged separately. Use standard precautions, register on Ariane before you fly, and keep the French Embassy in Jakarta on hand if you ever need it.

Travel insurance is not legally required for the eVOA, but the Assurance Maladie does not cover medical care outside the EU. A medical evacuation from Bali can run into tens of thousands of dollars. Premium carte bancaire cover (Visa Premier, Mastercard Gold) is limited and capped, most French travellers add a dedicated assurance voyage for the trip.

Yes for hotels, restaurants, and larger shops, especially Visa and Mastercard. AMEX is accepted in fewer venues. For day-to-day spending (warungs, taxis Bluebird, markets) you will need IDR cash, easy to withdraw with any major French debit card at an ATM. Two practical tips: tell your bank you are travelling so they don't block the card for "opération suspecte à l'étranger", and pick a card without frais de change for the trip.

If you stay airside in the international transit area without passing immigration, you do not need an Indonesian visa. If you exit immigration in Indonesia for any reason, including overnight layovers in Jakarta or Bali, you do. The eVOA covers transit purposes too, so when in doubt, get the eVOA. Cheaper than missing your onward flight over a paperwork question.

No, they are separate. The eVOA is your entry visa to Indonesia. The Bali Tourism Levy is a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) fee charged by the province of Bali to all international visitors. We do not collect or process the levy. Pay it directly at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you fly, or at the DPS arrival kiosk.

Yes. The eVOA can be extended once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days. Extensions require an online filing plus an in-person biometric appointment at a local Indonesian immigration office. We can help organise the extension when you are ready, useful if your villa booking in Ubud creeps past the 30-day window.

We recommend applying 3 to 5 days before your flight. Processing takes 12 to 72 business hours depending on the tier you choose. Around the grandes vacances (juillet to août), Toussaint, and the fêtes de fin d'année, applying a week ahead is sensible because everyone else is also flying that week.
