⚡ Quick Answers for German Travellers
How fast can I get my Bali visa from Germany?
12 business hours with Express. Priority is 48 hours, Standard is 72 hours. Most German travellers pick Priority during the staggered Sommerferien window when last-minute Bali flights from FRA, MUC, and BER fill up fast.
Why do German travellers go to Indonesia?
Bali is to Indonesia what Mallorca is to Spain: a celebrated island within a much larger republic. Germans come for Ubud yoga retreats, surfing the Bukit Peninsula, the temples of Yogyakarta, and the world-class diving in Komodo and Raja Ampat.
Is the application DSGVO-compliant?
Yes, end to end. All personal data is processed on EU-mirrored infrastructure following DSGVO/GDPR rules, with documented retention windows and a right-to-deletion path. Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Apple Pay, and Google Pay all process cleanly in USD.

⚠️ Heading to Bali? Don't forget the Bali Tourism Levy
If your itinerary includes Bali, the Bali provincial government charges a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) tourism levy on entry. This is not the same as your Indonesia visa, and we do not collect it. Pay it directly on lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you fly, or at the kiosk on arrival at Denpasar. Your eVOA covers Indonesian immigration; the Tourismusabgabe funds the local Balinese tourism programme.

What German travellers are saying
Real feedback from German passport holders. 4.1/5 verified rating across 10,000+ reviews.
“Pre-baby holiday for the two of us, both eVOAs back in 39 hours on Priority. The team flagged that my Reisepass had only 5 months validity left before we paid, which spared a fast-track Termin at the Bürgeramt. Erfreulich ehrlich.”

“Family of four to Ubud during the bavarian Sommerferien. AMEX charged cleanly in USD on a single transaction, all four visas issued in 26 hours, even my mother-in-law's. Cleaner experience than the Visa-Antrag we did for China last year.”
Anna K.

“Surf trip to Canggu booked last minute, Express tier delivered the visa in 8 hours. WhatsApp answered every Frage in plain English, no marketing-Geschwurbel. The Erstattungsregelung was explained without me even asking.”

Indonesia travel tips for German travellers
What actually matters when you fly from Frankfurt, Munich, or Berlin to Indonesia.
Best months for Bali
April through October is the dry season and the sweet spot for Ubud, Canggu, and Uluwatu. July and August overlap with most Bundesländer's Sommerferien and prices peak. Avoid Nyepi (Bali's day of silence in late March), the entire island closes for 24 hours, DPS included.
Best Germany routes to DPS
No direct flights from Germany to Bali. Best one-stops: Singapore Airlines via SIN, Qatar Airways via DOH, Emirates via DXB, Turkish Airlines via IST. From FRA roughly 16 to 19 hours total, similar from MUC and BER. KLM via AMS is the only nonstop option, with one short hop from Germany.
Time difference
Bali is +6 hours from Germany in summer (MESZ), +7 hours in winter (MEZ). Your sleep arrives in Bali around lunch, so plan an easy first day. The reverse jet lag on the way home is the kinder direction.
Tips reflect typical conditions for German passport holders. Always check current advice on Auswärtiges Amt before you fly.
Common Indonesia eVisa questions from German travellers
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers. If it is not here, see our full FAQ.
Yes. German passport holders need a visa for tourism, business, family visits, or transit through immigration. Bali is a province of Indonesia (in the way Bayern is a Bundesland in Germany), so the same eVOA applies whether you land at Denpasar (DPS), Jakarta (CGK), Yogyakarta (YIA), or Lombok (LOP).
All-in USD pricing: Standard $99 (72 business hours), Priority $139 (48 hours), Express $179 (12 hours). One transparent fee, no add-ons, no surcharge at checkout, no Mehrwertsteuer surprise.
Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Apple Pay, and Google Pay all process cleanly in USD. Plain Girocard (Maestro/V-Pay) is not accepted, use a co-branded Visa or Mastercard.
The eVOA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, which is your window to enter Indonesia. Once you arrive, you can stay 30 days. Single entry. Extendable once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days.
The eVOA is fully active at Ngurah Rai (Bali / DPS) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta / CGK), the two airports nearly all German itineraries pass through. It is also accepted at Yogyakarta (YIA), Surabaya (SUB), Lombok (LOP), Manado, Medan, Batam, Bintan, and the other authorised entry points across the country.
The Auswärtiges Amt lists most tourist zones, including Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, and Java, with no general Reisewarnung. Specific remote regions in Papua and Sulawesi carry separate advisories. Register on the ELEFAND list before flying.
Travel insurance is not required for the eVOA, but the GKV does not cover treatment outside the EU. A medical evacuation from Bali can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, so most Germans add an Auslandskrankenversicherung from ADAC, ERGO, or HanseMerkur.
Yes for hotels and larger shops, particularly Visa and Mastercard. For warungs, Bluebird taxis, and markets you'll need IDR cash from any Bali ATM. Notify your bank before flying, and pick a card without Auslandseinsatzgebühr.
If you stay airside in the international transit area without passing immigration, you do not need an Indonesian visa. If you exit immigration in Indonesia for any reason, including overnight layovers in Jakarta or Bali, you do. The eVOA covers transit purposes too, so when in doubt, get the eVOA. Cheaper than missing your onward Anschluss over a paperwork question.
Yes. All personal data is processed under DSGVO/GDPR rules, with documented retention windows and a clear right-to-deletion path. Passport scans are encrypted at rest, transmitted only to authorised Indonesian immigration channels, and removed from active storage after the visa is issued. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
No, they are separate. The eVOA is your entry visa to Indonesia. The Bali Tourism Levy is a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) fee charged by the province of Bali to all international visitors. We do not collect or process the levy. Pay it directly at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you fly, or at the DPS arrival kiosk.
We recommend applying 3 to 5 days before your flight. Processing takes 12 to 72 business hours depending on the tier you choose. Around the staggered Sommerferien (June to September), the Weihnachtsferien, and Pfingsten, applying a week ahead is sensible because last-minute volume spikes.
Denials are rare (around 2%) thanks to our pre-submission expert review. If Indonesian immigration declines your file, our team walks you through the reason in writing and advises whether a re-application makes sense. See our refund policy for the details.
