Yes. Dutch passport holders need a visa for tourism, business, family heritage visits, or transit through immigration. Bali is a province of Indonesia (in the way Friesland is a province of the Netherlands), so the same eVOA applies whether you land at Denpasar (DPS), Jakarta (CGK), Yogyakarta (YIA), or Lombok (LOP).

The eVOA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, which is your window to enter Indonesia. Once you arrive, you can stay 30 days. Single entry. Extendable once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days.

The eVOA is fully active at Ngurah Rai (Bali / DPS) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta / CGK), the two airports nearly all Dutch itineraries route through. It is also accepted at Yogyakarta (YIA), Surabaya (SUB), Lombok (LOP), Manado, Medan, Batam, Bintan, and other authorised entry points across Indonesia.

The Reisadvies van Buitenlandse Zaken lists most tourist zones, including Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, and Java, as green or yellow. Remote zones in Papua and parts of Sulawesi are flagged separately. Register on the BZ Informatieservice before flying.

Travel insurance is not required for the eVOA, but the basisverzekering only covers limited emergency care outside the EU. A medical evacuation from Bali can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, so most Dutch travellers add a doorlopende reisverzekering from Allianz, ANWB, or de Europeesche.

Yes for hotels and larger shops, particularly Visa and Mastercard. For warungs, Bluebird taxis, and markets you'll need IDR cash from any Bali ATM. Notify your bank before flying so the fraudfilter doesn't block the card.

If you stay airside in the international transit area without passing immigration, you do not need an Indonesian visa. If you exit immigration in Indonesia for any reason, including overnight layovers in Jakarta or Bali, you do. The eVOA covers transit purposes too, so when in doubt, get the eVOA. Cheaper than missing your KLM connection.

Yes. All personal data is processed under AVG/GDPR rules, with documented retention windows and a clear right-to-deletion path. No, they are separate. The eVOA is your entry visa to Indonesia. The Bali Tourism Levy is a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) toeristenheffing charged by the province of Bali to all international visitors. We do not collect or process the levy. Pay it directly at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you fly, or at the DPS arrival kiosk.

We recommend applying 3 to 5 days before your KLM or Garuda flight. Processing takes 12 to 72 business hours depending on tier. Around the Krokus-, Mei-, Zomer-, Herfst- and Kerstvakantie, applying a week ahead is sensible because last-minute volume spikes alongside flight prices.
