⚡ Quick Answers for Taiwan Travellers
How fast can I get my Bali visa from Taiwan?
12 business hours with Express. Priority is 48 hours, Standard is 72 hours. Most Taiwan travellers pick Priority for Lunar New Year family trips and honeymoons, when EVA Air TPE-DPS seats fill 6-8 weeks ahead.
Why is Bali so popular with Taiwanese travellers?
Bali is Taiwan's classic honeymoon destination. 5-hour direct flight from TPE, zero time difference, premium villas in Seminyak and Ubud, and seafood dinners that feel like home in Kaohsiung or Tainan. Plus EVA Air Hello Kitty jets for the kids on family trips.
Will my Cathay United, CTBC, or E.Sun card work?
Yes. Visa, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, UnionPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay all process cleanly in USD via a US-based processor. Cathay United, CTBC, E.Sun, Taishin, and Fubon cards all work without issue.

⚠️ Heading to Bali? Don't forget the Bali Tourism Levy
If your itinerary touches Bali, the Bali provincial government charges a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) tourism levy on entry. This is not the same as your Indonesia visa, and we don't collect it. Pay it directly on lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you fly, or at the kiosk on arrival at Denpasar. Your eVOA covers Indonesian immigration; the levy funds the local Balinese tourism programme.

Real feedback from Taiwan ROC passport holders. 4.1/5 verified rating across 10,000+ reviews.
“Family honeymoon trip for our daughter and son-in-law plus the four parents. Six eVOAs back in 41 hours on Priority. The team noticed my mother-in-law's passport had only 5 months left and flagged it before we paid, saving us a sprint to BOCA. Genuinely thoughtful.”

“Surfing trip to Uluwatu, three of us booked EVA Air on Friday for Saturday departure. Express tier delivered all three visas in 9 hours. JCB charged once cleanly in USD on the Cathay United card, no FX surprise on the statement. Quicker than my Japan visa last year.”
Peggy L.
Qianjin, Kaohsiung
“Yoga retreat in Ubud during the Mid-Autumn long weekend, Standard tier was plenty fast at 56 hours. WhatsApp answered every question in clear English within minutes, none of the canned-response treatment you sometimes get. The refund policy was explained clearly without asking.”

Indonesia travel tips for Taiwanese travellers
What actually matters when you fly EVA Air or China Airlines from TPE/KHH to Bali.
Best months for Bali
April through October is the dry season, ideal for Ubud, Canggu, and Uluwatu. Lunar New Year and summer holidays see the highest TPE-DPS demand and prices. Avoid Nyepi (Bali's silent day in late March), the entire island closes for 24 hours, DPS included.
Best Taiwan routes to DPS
EVA Air (BR255/BR256) direct TPE-DPS, around 5 hours 5 minutes. China Airlines (CI773) also direct. Garuda Indonesia via Jakarta is often cheapest. From Kaohsiung (KHH) most routes connect via TPE or Singapore.
Time difference
Zero time difference. Bali (WITA) and Taiwan both run on UTC+8 year-round, no daylight saving. No jet lag in either direction, no body-clock reset. Land in DPS in the evening, dinner in Seminyak, beach by morning, all on Taipei time.
Tips reflect typical conditions for ROC passport holders. Always check current advice on Taiwan MOFA Bureau of Consular Affairs before you fly.
Common Indonesia eVisa questions from Taiwan travellers
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers. If it is not here, see our full FAQ.
Yes. Taiwan ROC passport holders need a visa for tourism, business, honeymoon, or transit through immigration. Bali is a province of Indonesia, so the same eVOA applies whether you land at Denpasar (DPS), Jakarta (CGK), Yogyakarta (YIA), or Lombok (LOP). Taiwan is on the official 86-country eVOA list.
All-in USD pricing: Standard $99 (72 business hours), Priority $139 (48 hours), Express $179 (12 hours). One transparent fee, no add-ons, no FX surprise on the credit card statement.
Yes. Visa, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, UnionPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay all process cleanly in USD. Cathay United, CTBC, E.Sun, Taishin, and Fubon cards all work. LINE Pay via a linked card is fine.
The eVOA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, which is your window to enter Indonesia. Once you arrive, you can stay 30 days. Single entry. Extendable once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days.
The eVOA is fully active at Ngurah Rai (Bali / DPS) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta / CGK), the two airports nearly all Taiwan itineraries route through. It is also accepted at Yogyakarta (YIA), Surabaya (SUB), Lombok (LOP), Manado, Medan, Batam, Bintan, and other authorised entry points across Indonesia.
Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) lists most tourist zones, including Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, and Java, with no orange or red advisories. Remote regions in Papua and parts of Sulawesi are flagged separately. Register with BOCA before flying.
Travel insurance is not required for the eVOA, but Taiwan's national health insurance does not cover treatment outside Taiwan. A medical evacuation from Bali can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, so most Taiwan travellers add a travel-accident plus trip-inconvenience cover from Cathay Century, Fubon, or Mingtai.
Yes for hotels, restaurants, and larger shops, particularly Visa, Mastercard, and JCB (widely accepted in Bali due to Japanese and Taiwanese tourist volume). For warungs, Bluebird taxis, and markets you'll need IDR cash from any Bali ATM.
If you stay airside in the international transit area without passing immigration, you do not need an Indonesian visa. If you exit immigration in Indonesia for any reason, including overnight layovers in Jakarta or Bali, you do. The eVOA covers transit purposes too.
No, they are separate. The eVOA is your entry visa to Indonesia. The Bali Tourism Levy is a separate IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD) fee charged by the province of Bali to all international visitors. We do not collect it. Pay directly at lovebali.baliprov.go.id.
Yes. The eVOA can be extended once in-country for another 30 days, taking total stay to 60 days. Extensions require an online filing plus an in-person biometric appointment at a local Indonesian immigration office. Useful when honeymooners decide to add 10 more days in Nusa Dua.
Apply 3 to 5 days before your flight. Processing takes 12 to 72 business hours depending on tier. Around Lunar New Year, summer holidays, Mid-Autumn, and National Day weekends, applying a week ahead is sensible because last-minute volume spikes alongside seat prices.
Denials are rare (around 2%) thanks to our pre-submission expert review. If Indonesian immigration declines your file, our team walks you through the reason in writing and advises whether a re-application makes sense. See our refund policy for details.
